Spinach
Mum always thought I was a bit of an odd kid, asking for spinach for
supper! But fresh picked from the garden, raw or lightly steamed,
even added to cooked dishes, you just can't beat the flavour and
texture of spinach. In 2009 the completion of our high tunnel
gave me the chance to taste fall-grown leaves, and belive me - there's nothing sweeter than spinach in November!
Prefers shorter days and cooler temps, so plant your seeds first thing
in Spring or later in the fall. Super-cold hardy, spinach is an
ideal leafy veg to include in your season extension garden plans.
