Brussels sprouts
To tell you the truth, I really like Brussels sprouts! Named for
the town of Brussels, Belgium where they were popularized as early as
the 1200's. Eventually these cold-hardy mini-cabbages spread
through the cooler European countries and popped up in North America
around 1800. A well-known vegetable that unfortunately makes rare
appearances at the kitchen table, most likely because few folks eat
them fresh-picked and home grown which is the ultimate flavour-boost.
Include a few plants in your garden and enjoy the Fall harvest.
Approx. 300 seeds/gram.

from transplant. In the world of brussel
sprouts-gone-hybrid, try Roodnerf as a good open-pollinated (OP)
variety. You'll have plump green sprouts along the stem by
mid-September, and they'll only get sweeter with frost.

NEW! FALSTAFF
96 daysfrom
transplant. A purple Brussels sprout! Tiny little red
"cabbages" fill out nicely along stems in fall, and hold their
colour when cooked. I've had such consistently good performance
from Falstaff that this variety quickly became a garden staple as well
as a beautiful eye-catching addition.
