Stop and Smell the Garlic!Friday Sep 25 2015
Fall is the planting season for garlic -- same as your daffodil and tulip bulbs. With just a little garden space, compost, and a layer of mulch for a winter blanket, garlic’s hardy growth habit makes it a sure success for Maritime gardeners.
We loooove garlic here at Hope Seeds! And who wouldn't knowing that: Garlic is one of the most cold-season friendly crops to grow with companion-planting qualities to boot; it's wonderfully medicinal, offering immune system boosting properties; and just adds so much to any divine dish that comes out of the kitchen! In the past our garlic trials have included more than 40 different cultivars. This year we're pleased to offer 5 different hardneck varieties of PEI-grown goodness.
Take a look at our selection here: www.hopeseed.com/browse;cat,163;Garlic and feel free to contact us with any questions.
p.s. If you're near Annapolis Royal, be sure to drop by our shop/office for First Friday on October 2nd from 5-8pm -- you can purchase and take home garlic or just come by to chat about your growing season.
